Monponsett Pond Site Visit
Monponsett Inn Parking Lot

Present:        Mark Gallivan, Jesse McSweeney, Peter Jones and Acting Executive Secretary Meredith Marini.  No formal meeting was conducted and no votes were taken during the site visit.

9:10 a.m. – Water Superintendent Brian Creedon conducted the meeting.  There were several Ocean Avenue residents including Dean Anderson, Frank Runey and Doris Grindle.  Board of Health member Terry McSweeney.  Halifax Selectmen John Bruno and Margaret Fitzgerald and several Halifax residents also attended.

Mr. Creedon explained that the City of Brockton controls the levels of Monponsett Pond by diverting to Silver Lake.  He provided the attendees with a monthly log indicating the water levels.  The Monponsett Pond residents cited their concerns about the levels of the pond encroaching on the properties causing septic system failures.  Mr. Creedon maintains the level have not increased in several years.  Mr. Creedon indicated Brockton is willing to assist the communities in any way to alleviate their problems.

Mr. Creedon guided the group on the tour of the dam located on the Northland Cranberry Property.  The participants drove to Pleasant and walked to the dam.  Mr. Creedon indicated that the dam is cleared of debris two to three times per week.  Several of the attendees disputed that the dam is cleared as often as pronounced.

Mr. Jones and Mrs. Marini left he site visit at 11:25 a.m.
